Workington Victoria’s all ticket-winners class for the final show produced a multiple winner.
A chequer hen for Morris and Wayne McLuckie caught the eye of judge Martin Johnston to take the first prize – and that’s the fifth show she has won.
As well as the all-ticket winners there was also a class for the fancy coloured birds who rarely get a look in at the main shows with Kevin Evans taking the honours in this section.
Most points in the winter series of shows went to the Flimby fancier Alan Bromley.
The results were:
- All ticket winners – 32 entries – 1, McLuckie bros; 2, Evans and Abraham; 3, 7, Williams and Hadfield; 4, 8, A. Hayton; 5, Varty, son and grandson; 6, Bromley and co.
- Fancy coloureds – 30 entries – 1, 4, Evans and Abraham; 2, Bromley and co; 3, Williams and Hadfield; 5, 6, Varty, son and grandson; 7, 8, Dolan and daughter.
The Victoria club will hold a show race on Friday, December 29 in the Union Jack Club with judging at 7-30pm. It is open to West Cumbria Amalgamation members.
The race next season will be from Marlborough or its equivalent and will have a six-bird limit, although the race entries need not be shown.
All race entry ring numbers must be handed in on night of show.
The birdage is £3 – £2-50 for the race and 50p for the show.
