Kendal Town produced an outstanding second-half performance to win 4-1 at Skelmersdale last night.
Skem might be bottom of the North West Counties Premier Division but they have been showing improved form of late.
Indeed they led 1-0 at half-time despite Kendal playing well and producing some excellent football in the first-half.
Yasir Salim gave the hosts the lead five minutes before half-time to give Jimmy Marshall’s side work to so.
But the Mintcakes responded superbly and three goals inside a 10-minute spell changed the course of the game.
Joe Dickson (63), Patrick Allington (71) and Steve Yawson (73) swept Kendal into a 3-1 lead and it should have been more but Yawson put one over the top from a yard.
Dickson, who returned to the club earlier this month, grabbed his second on 83 minutes to put the icing on the cake and complete a fine come-back.
Manager Marshall said: “It was a bit of a kick in the teeth to go in at half-time 1-0 down from their only real opportunity.
“But I’m over the moon with how the team responded and won with four very good goals.
“It’s a squad game and we did move the team around again tonight so I’m really pleased with how they all responded.
“We’ve had three games over the holiday period in a short space of time and taken five points. It is a little disappointing as we had set ourselves a target of seven but we are in a good place and hoping to kick-on in the New Year.
“We want to consolidate in the play-offs and I think we have the squad to do it.”
The win put Kendal back into the play-offs (fifth) and that won’t change today. Chadderton could have gone past them with a win at Squire’s Gate but that has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
