New players expected to join Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers are expected to sign players ahead of Saturday’s visit to struggling Carlisle United.

Although they managed to beat another relegation haunted side in Cheltenham Town, 1-0 on Tuesday night, they suffered blows on the field.

Both Randell Williams and Kyle Dempsey picked up injuries while George Thomason’s 10th league yellow card of the season means he misses the next two games through suspension.

Manager Ian Evatt, the former Barrow boss, is also keeping his fingers crossed that Carlos Mendes Gomes arrives back in time after being involved in the African Cup of Nations for Guinea Bissau.

Without any recruits in the January transfer window Evatt could be down to 16 senior players for the trip to Brunton Park.

Dempsey does have a chance of being fit to face his first professional club as he is having treatment for a muscle issued.

But Williams will be out for three or four weeks with a recurrence of an old hamstring injury.

Evatt told reporters after the Cheltenham games – “We are going to have to do some business, and we will do some business.”

The Bolton manager will be wary of Carlisle as the Blues won the corresponding game 3-1 in October.
