
A platform at Carlisle train station has been closed for public safety after its roof was damaged by Storm Isha.
Platform one has been temporarily closed and train services that regularly use the platform are being diverted to platforms three and four.
An Avanti West Coast spokesman said: “Platform 1 at Carlisle station has been temporarily closed as a safety precaution due to storm damage to the roof above.
“We are expecting it to be repaired over the weekend, and for the platform to reopen this Sunday. We would like to thank our customers for their patience during this time.”
The train firm added that no delays had been caused by the platform closure and that Network Rail will be carrying out the repair work over the weekend.
