Latest action in Division Two of the Carlisle and District Snooker League included a battle between top and bottom.

SECC C have dominated the early part of the season, so this was going to be a tough test for RAOB B.

However, in the first frame RAOB B got off to a great start when Jamie Blakey beat Dean O’Neil 66-42 in a high scoring game with Jamie potting some crucial colours at the back end of the game

.Frame two saw SECC level the match score at 1-1 when Stuart Roberts beat RAOB team captain Chris Bray. As Chris himself said “Stuart was just too good tonight” in a game that finished 27-60.

Frame three was between Peter Dean and Ray Swailes. Ray has always been a great break builder over the years, so Peter had to play a tight safety game for the home team to keep the game close.

This is exactly what happened, as the game went to a black ball finish. Both players had an opportunity to clinch the frame, but in the end it was Ray who got the final pot to win the frame 60-49 and put SECC C into a 2-1 lead.

Frame four was between the two No.1 players for the teams. Alan Jardine potted the final pink when leading by 13 points to come out on top for RAOB B against Stephen Swailes by 66-42 and level the match score at 2-2.

So it was down to a deciding frame in the final match to see who would claim the bonus points for winning the match.

John Greenland took an early lead and was in control of the frame against Adrian Shaw from SECC C until it came to the ‘colours’.

As with many frames, its all about potting the high value colours and this is where Adrian secured the win for the league leaders (47-30) and with it, the match and bonus points. Match score RAOB B 2 SECC C 5.

Other Results: Eastriggs Social Club A 2 – 5 SECC; QZone Originals 4 – 2 Ex B; SECC D 2 – 5 St Margaret Mary`s.

Our featured game in Division One was between Longtown and Inter Qzone.

The opening frame was between Jamie Jackson from Longtown and Simon Towns of Inter Qzone.

It was an entertaining, if scrappy, start to the night with Simon taking the chances he was left on offer to win 65-16 and get the visitors off to a good start.

Frame two was experience verses youth, with youth coming out on top when the in-form Ryan Ridding beat Longtown’s Willie Cairns 44-17.

The run of the balls was against Willie, as on more than one occasion he left an easy starter for Ryan, who leapt at the chance to take the match.

Frame three went the way of Inter Qzone, when Michael Waring prevailed over Dave Murray 51-26.

It was occasionally a scrappy game, where Michael just potted higher value colours to be always in control.

Frame four between Andy Story and Peter Stanyer was a very one-sided affair that Andy dominated for Longtown to win 60-4.

There were a couple of double digit breaks including a 20 that signalled the end of any chance Peter had of winning the match.

This gave Longtown there first point of the night.

In the final frame it was the battle of two of the league’s committee members – Mike Griffiths for Inter Qzone against Tony Steele from Longtown.

Tony applied some early pressure with a nice 20+ break to take an early lead, but by mid frame Mike had pulled the scores level and then went on to win the frame with a clearance of 33 to take the honours 65-30.

It clinched the match, the two bonus points for an away win, making the final score 6-1 to Inter Qzone.

Other Results: DH QZone 4 – 2 The Rock A; Ex C 2 – 5 Qzone; SECC A 2 – 5 Annan Blue Bell; The Rock 6 – 1 RAOB A.
