Barrow Raiders have landed a tough tie in the 1895 Cup after winning the Cumbrian group.
They must travel to ex-Super League outfit Wakefield on March 3 – a fortnight before the new Championship season opens.
Wakefield won their group with comprehensive wins over York City Knights (40-4) and yesterday they hammered Newcastle Thunder 110-0.
It was a record breaking scoreline for the club while Mason Lino scored three tries and kicked 13 goals as his 38 points was an individual best match tally by a Trinity player.
Paul Crarey, the Barrow coach said: “Obviously it’s a very tough draw for us but if you have ambitions to win a trophy you have to beat the best at some point.
“But it is a quarter final of a major competition and every tie is going to be tough at this stage.
“Besides, if all favourites won their matches we would all be millionaires!”
Whitehaven finished runners-up in the Cumbrian group after they beat Workington Town 28-22 in the final game but York City Knights, who also thumped Newcastle by over 100 points, went through as the best group runners-up.
The draw for the quarter finals is: Sheffield Eagles v Batley Bulldogs; Bradford Bulls v Swinton Lions; York City Knights v Oldham; Wakefield Trinity v Barrow Raiders.
The semi-finals will be played on Sunday, May 12 and if Barrow can beat Wakefield they face another trip to the winners of Bradford and Swinton.
The final will be played at Wembley Stadium on June 8 after the main Challenge Cup final.
