Carlisle United played-out a 1-1 draw with a Glasgow Rangers B side in a Monday afternoon friendly.
Taylor Charters had given United the lead from the penalty spot after 66 minutes but Rangers levelled five minutes later through substitute Thompson Ishaka.
The Charters penalty followed a clear foul on Jayden Harris in the home box by Robbie Fraser and Charters made no mistake.
Ishaka, a highly rated teenager, wanted at one stage of his fledgling career by Man City and Chelsea, got beyond the Carlisle defence to reach a through ball and fire past Gabe Breeze.
United boss Paul Simpson was looking for players to step up to the mark and push for a place in the side to visit Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
His starting line-up included Saturday’s seven substitutes, five of whom were not used then, and Simpson will assess his next selection over the next four days.
He watched the game, although dug-out duties were left to Gavin Skelton, Billy Barr and Mark Birch.
During the course of the game they made only one change after 62 minutes when teenager Aran Fitzpatrick came on at left back for Jack Robinson.
Both teams had opportunities for an outright win but good work by the respective keepers, or some wild finishing, meant there were no goals before or after the five-minute burst of scoring.
Carlisle United: Breeze, Back, Robinson (62’ Fitzpatrick), McCalmont, Huntington, Grehan, Butterworth, McGeouch, Dudik, Harris, Charters
Unused subs: Barry, O’Brien, Hetherington, Swinburn, Allan.
