A West Cumbrian hotel has had a whirlwind few days – with celebrities choosing the venue to stay while in the county.
Bez, of indie band Happy Mondays, stayed at Moresby Hall Hotel, near Whitehaven over the weekend. He was on stage at the nearby Rosehill Theatre for an audience with evening.
And Nigel Farage arrived in the early hours of Thursday. The GB News presenter was hosting a Question Time-style debate in Whitehaven for the channel following this week’s Spring Budget.
Steph Eilbeck, who runs the hotel with Jo Arthur, said both men were lovely guests. She said: “When Nigel Farage said he was hosting a debate in Whitehaven, I said I hoped he would be able to understand people’s accents and he said it was distinctive!”
Steph and Jo took over the manor house last year and have given it a new lease of life.
Most recently run as a guest house, Jo and Steph revamped the Grade I listed manor house.
Its history dates back to Medieval times and is one of the county’s most important buildings, according to English Heritage.
Steph said the hotel was busy and business was good, and they were looking forward to a busy Mother’s Day.
