Workington Reds will be looking for a third win in a row this weekend, but it will have to be third time lucky against Hyde United.
The visitors have already won at Borough Park in the FA Trophy while they also won their home League game last month.
They are flying high, second in the table, and showed their determination last week in overcoming a 2-0 deficit against struggling Atherton Collieries to win 3-2.
Reds go into the game on the back of a 2-1 home win over Matlock Town and a 3-1 victory at FC United of Manchester last week.
That victory last week was particularly significant as it was the first game Reds had played since manager Danny Grainger had announced he was leaving at the end of the season.
Grainger has pledged that, since his departure was revealed early, there would be no drop in focus from him or his team and that was apparent in the win against FC United.
The departing boss wants to finish in the top half of the table and they currently stand there in 11th although six teams below them do have games in hand.
Reds have eight games left – four each home and away – and included is a really big finish to the campaign with Worksop (a), 8th; Marine (h), 4th; Macclesfield (a), 5th and Guiseley (h), 6th.
As they also have teams below them – Gainsborough (a), Stafford (a) and Atherton Collieries (h) – to play it can be argued that there will be something to play for in every game left.
Meanwhile the search has started for a successor to Danny Grainger and in a perfect world Reds would like the new man in place before the end of the season – even if he hasn’t been named by then.
John Walsh went along to Borough Park today for Cumbria Crack to talk to chairman Phil Norman and discuss the Reds plans for a new man in charge of the team for next season.
