Rubbish collected by Workington parkrunners

Workington parkrunners continue to do their bit to rid the town of litter.

Fourteen volunteers continued the battle against litter on the cycle way at the back of Northside which is the first part of the weekly Workington parkrun.

Co-ordinated by Stephen Atherton, the group made the route nicer for residents, parkrun participants and visitors.

The runners had been out in force three weeks ago on their crusade to do away with litter and removed this time a mattress which had been deposited since the last clean-up.

In total it is estimated the group will have successfully collected nearly five tons of rubbish and litter.
