With parliamentary boundaries changing, the people of Westmorland and Lonsdale have a once-in-a-generation opportunity for change.

They can choose Matty Jackman for a fresh start – an energetic, compassionate, homegrown candidate who will champion local needs in Westminster.

Raised in Grasmere, Matty is a strong advocate for Westmorland and Lonsdale. “I dedicate myself to strengthening and helping our communities, families, and businesses,” he said.

Matty is focused on unlocking our local potential, bolstering the education system, and boosting connectivity.

Matty said: “I am honoured that local people have put their trust in me to fight for Westmorland and Lonsdale. I am a local lad, living and working in the area. I also have experience in the Army and at the heart of central government. With this, I can understand and act on community and national issues in a joined-up way.

“I want to thank people all over Westmorland and Lonsdale for their incredibly positive support. People across our area are desperate to have a new and strong local voice representing them in Parliament.

“From Brough to Grange and Coniston to Kirkby Stephen, we are ready for the progress on community collaboration and innovative economic solutions that I will bring.”

Away from politics, Matty is a Community First Responder with the North West Ambulance Service helping local people. He is also an Army Reservist and an avid fell runner, having completed his Bob Graham Round in 2021.

Showing his commitment to our local community in these volunteer roles, Matty has honed his leadership skills and responded to challenges and emergencies with grit and resilience.

Speaking about his experiences in the Army Reserve and central government, Matty said: “These roles have equipped me with a keen understanding of policy implementation and the complexity of governing.

“I am prepared to tackle the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for our community. I look forward to sharing my values and ambitions with the residents of Westmorland and Lonsdale.”

Westmorland and Lonsdale is one of the most picturesque constituencies in the UK and is bustling with visitors. However, Matty has identified that there is far more this area can offer to locals and tourists alike.

He added: “We need a vibrant, diversified economy for our region, extending beyond tourism to include tech and creative sectors.”
