
The matches are coming thick and fast in the Cumberland County League with another four fixtures last night.
In the Premier Division, Wigton Harriers hosted Aspatria in a local derby which went the way of the home side by 2-1. Liam Lightfoot and Matthew Reed were on target for Harriers while Richard Hudson grabbed the Aspatria goal.
Maryport Athletic kept up their fine form with another win, this time beating Whitehaven Miners Social 2-0 in the Ken Glover Memorial Cup. Alistair Shaw-Hughes and Joe Hetherington scored the goals which helped Maryport to maintain their 100% record in this competition.
Cockermouth and Keswick met in the Divisional Cup Group A at Highfield on Tuesday evening in an entertaining encounter.
It was Keswick who came out on top on the night, beating their hosts 5-2 with goals from Stephen Moss (2), Jamie Little, Alfie West and Stephen Hilton. Conor Cooke and Luke Graham were on target for Cockermouth.
These two clubs meet again on Saturday May 11 in Division One for what could be the all-important title decider.
Elsewhere, a hat trick from Harry Hodgson along with Bobby Fitzpatrick, Owen Bell, Kieren Frazer and Reece O’Connor also finding the back of the net, plus the aid of an own goal, helped Windscale Reserves beat Mirehouse 8-0.
Thursday night sees another round of fixtures in the Cumberland County League, all 6.30pm kick-off.
