The first of the league cup finals in the new West Cumberland Sunday League is to be played next Friday, May 3.

Flimby Social and Royal Oak will go head-to-head at Workington’s Borough Park (ko 7pm) in the Tier 3 League Cup final.

Royal Oak’s semi-final against King’s Arms had ended in a 4-4 draw which meant it had to go to penalties. It was tight again but the Oak just came out on top 5-4.

It was a similar story for Flimby Social. Their semi final game had ended 0-0 with Salterbeck, which required a penalty shoot-out and the villagers also narrowly came out on top 5-4.

In a Tier Two group game Bluebell were 6-2 winners at Thornhill with goals from Macauley Sharp (3), Gareth Brunton, Aidan Smith and Josh Hoggarth. Aiden Kegg knocked-in both for Thornhill.

There were two games at Tier One level and leaders Parkside were held 2-2 by Moresby.

Ryan Maguire and Tom Mahone netted for Parkside with Ellis Trotter notching both for Moresby.

Northside swept aside Dearham 8-0 with goals from Chad Grisedale (2), Tommy Whitehead (2), Jamie Glover, Tony Berwick, Kyle Graham and Harry Watson.

There was a tight game in the Premier Division where FC Cosmos narrowly beat Lowca 2-1 with both goals from Ryan O’Neill with Owen Woodburn on the mark for the Pirates.

It was also tight in the Division One clash between FC Butchers and Sun Inn.

The Maryport side came out on top 3-2 with goals from Lewis Martin (2) and Tom Bethwaite.

Richard O’Keefe and Mally Graham netted for Sun Inn. It still leaves Sun Inn needing a point from their last two games to clinch the title.

Fixtures for Sunday

  • Premier Division – Bluebell v Lowca; Dearham v Cosmos; Parkside v Northside.
  • Division One – King’s Arms v Butcher’s; Swan Inn v Salterbeck.
  • Tier 2 League Cup – Sun Inn v Senhouse Street.
