A Lake District pass is set to close for up to 20 weeks.
A temporary road closure order has been put in place for Whinlatter Pass, near Braithwaite, for Openreach to carry out utility work.
The work is expected to start on May 2 and the closure will be in force from a point about 350 metres north west of the B5292 junction with the U2216, extending in a north-westerly direction for more than four kilometres.
Work will take place between 4am and 9.30am. For a period of three days from May 7 the restriction will be in force between 4am and 3.30pm.
There will be an alternative route via the unrestricted sections of the B5292, A5086 Cockermouth and the A66 and a way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
