Keswick made sure they kept the pressure on Cockermouth in the Cumberland County League Division One title race with an 8-1 victory at Mirehouse.

Sporting all-rounder Stephen , a tough forward for Keswick rugby union club and a wicket-keeper for Keswick in the Cumbria League, scored five of those goals.

Matthew Rankin, Callum West and Max Smith also netted to keep Keswick two points behind their title rivals Cockermouth with a game in hand. The Mirehouse goal scorer was George West.

Elsewhere, there was some Ken Glover Memorial Cup action as Maryport Athletic beat Unisun Athletic 5-2. Ethan Weir and Ashton Skillen both bagged themselves braces for Maryport with Ryan Porter scoring their other goal. Charlie Thompson netted twice for Unisun.

The other scheduled Ken Glover Memorial Cup tie between Whitehaven Miners Social and Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves was postponed due to an unplayable pitch.
