King Charles will continue his patronage of Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
As the Prince of Wales, King Charles was patron from 1997, and has been a supporter of Hospice at Home West Cumbria, recognising the invaluable care and support the charity provides to patients and families living with a palliative diagnosis.
The charity said it had received a letter from Buckingham Palace with his decision to retain his patronage of the charity.
It said: “I am pleased to confirm that His Majesty would be delighted to retain the patronage of Hospice at Home West Cumbria. It is my great pleasure to share this news with you, to mark the first anniversary of their majesties’ coronation.”
Brendon Cook, chair of Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said “We are thrilled to have received the letter from Buckingham Palace announcing that His Majesty will be retaining his patronage with our charity.
“King Charles has supported us for many years, and we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for his service.”
Chief executive Julie Monk said: “It is a privilege to welcome the King as our charity patron and we look forward to inviting him back to visit us in the near future.”
When he was the Prince of Wales, King Charles opened the charity’s information centre and treatment rooms on Finkle Street in Workington in 2014.
