A man has suffered serious burns after an explosion at a West Cumbrian brewery.

Emergency services were contacted at around 2.50pm to Calva Brow, Seaton, near Workington, yesterday, May 13.

Police said they were contacted by North West Ambulance Service which had received a report of an explosion at the Tractor Shed brewing facility.

Ambulance crews, police and the fire service were all in attendance.

Two air ambulances were also at the scene.

It is believed there is a single injured man who has suffered serious burns.

A road closure was put into place at Calva Brow and people were asked to avoid the area while emergency services continued with their work at the scene.

The road reopened last night.

It is understood the man has been transferred to the RVI in Newcastle for treatment.

The explosion has caused substantial damage to the building, it is believed, and the building is now in a dangerous condition.
