Workington Town will be without the services of Maltese international Jarrod Sammut for several weeks.
The veteran half-back, who missed Sunday’s narrow home defeat to Hunslet, will be out of the country for the next few weeks.
A club spokesman said: “The opportunity only arose very recently and he remains contracted to Workington Town.”
Sammut, 37, rejoined Town for the 2024 season in Division One after spending the last two years with Cumbrian neighbours Barrow Raiders.
He had been an ever-present until Sunday and is expected to be back home towards the end of July/beginning of August.
Town, like the rest of the pro game, don’t have a fixture this weekend as the Challenge Cup final takes centre stage.
They resume a week on Sunday with a trip to North Wales Crusaders.
