
Cockermouth, after six straight League wins, suffered their first defeat of the season in the T20 competition.
The Cumbria League Premier Division’s 100% leaders lost at home by 11 runs to Wigton in the first game of the north group.
Wigton were asked to bat first and they responded with a satisfactory 148-6.
Opener John Reed got Wigton away well with 44 off 32 deliveries, and that included two fours and four sixes.
Lower down the order Lewis Little (27 off 16) and George Johnston (21 off 19) boosted the total.
John Brown (2-26) and Ethan Hardie-Knight (2-30) were the most successful Cockermouth bowlers.
In the change of format Cockermouth switched their batting line-up but suffered a blow when Greg Platten was out first ball of the innings.
Brown, promoted to open, hit 24 off 23 but it was really regular opener Alex Grainger, coming in at four, who got the innings moving with 59 off 40.
But against some tight bowling and fielding Cockermouth just couldn’t get there in the closing stages.

Lewis Little took 2-16 and Chris Hodgson had 2-28.
League champions Carlisle were beaten at home by Keswick in the opening League fixture – and they got their revenge in their first T20 game.
Played at Fitz Park, Carlisle romped to a ten wicket win and with ten overs to spare.
Keswick could only manage 87-8 in their 20 overs with Finn Turnbull, coming in at nine, their top scorer with 19 off 21 deliveries.
All six Carlisle bowlers took wickets with the best returns from Johnny Westgarth (2-14) and Zephania Arinaitwe (2-19).
When they batted the Carlisle openers didn’t hang about, particularly Arinaitwe who hit 57no off 28 deliveries. The innings included five fours and four sixes.
Opening partner Oliver Spedding scored 29no at a more sedate pace off 33 deliveries. In total it took them 42 minutes to knock-off the required runs.
The first game in the south group was a real thriller when the Trophy holders Furness were beaten at Dalton by one run.
The home side batted first and were set on their way by an opening partnership of 58 between Liam Curwen (38 off 22) and Kagiso Rapulana (23 off 17).
Skipper Joe Braund-Smith followed with 18 off 21 but in an innings reduced to just 12 overs they made 89-6.
George Smith had 2-12 for Furness, Storey took 2-17 and pro Matthew Kleinveldt had 2-24.

Big hitter Garry Thompson was promoted to open the Furness innings but was clean bowled first delivery by Joss Edwards.
It was Samson Storey who gave the Furness reply some substance with 44 off 19 with three fours and four sixes.
When it came to the last over Furness needed 12 to win but they only managed 10 – including a six off the very last delivery by Brad Chapples.
For Dalton Mark Hollier took 2-14; Rapulana had 2-6 and Edwards took 2-25.
Egremont are bottom of the Cumbria League Premier Division but they opened their T20 campaign in the west group with an emphatic nine-wicket win at Cleator.
The home side made 109-7 in their 20 overs led by skipper Tom Sharpe with 64. Steven Lee (11) was the only other batsman to reach double figures.
Egremont pro Raghav Kupar took 3-16 while Lewis Gribbin had 2-321.
In reply Egremont needed only 14 overs to reach their required target as Kupar (59no) and Vickram Balakrishnan (25no) saw the visitors through to victory.
