A Cumbrian family are set to take on the Lakesman challenge this weekend in hope of saving children from the brain tumour that took their little boy’s life.
Rory Hall was just seven months old when his treatment for medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumour, killed him.
Since his death, Rory’s family and friends have raised nearly £67,000 in his memory for his three different funds, supporting children with cancer and their families.
The Keswick family’s latest fundraising venture takes place on Sunday, at the town’s Lakesman triathlon.
Rory’s parents Matt and Amy and his uncle Jim are taking on the relay event for the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group.
So far they have raised over £3,000.
Amy and Matt said: “We are taking on this challenge as part of our ongoing effort to improve the outlook for children with cancer and ensure that they have the future that our beautiful Rory wasn’t able to.

“Rory should have been starting at Threlkeld Primary School this September, playing in the new village playground with his brother and sister, but instead cancer has ripped a hole in our family forever.
“CCLG work tirelessly to research childhood cancers and ensure that the kindest, most relevant treatment and care for these children and their families is always a priority. It wasn’t Rory’s cancer that killed him, it was his treatment, so this is really important to us.
“With the money raised, CCLG will be able to directly fund pioneering research projects into Rory’s type of brain tumour.”
