Greg Worthington is going back to rejoin Barrow Raiders for a second time, on a deal running until the end of the season.

The former Featherstone Rovers and Halifax man joined the Raiders ahead of the 2023 campaign and went on to make 22 appearances, scoring once.

He left the club at the end of the season but will now return to bolster the Raiders ranks for the rest of the current Championship campaign.

The 33-year-old featured in a number of positions last year, starting the season as a centre before moving to loose forward midway through the campaign and ending it playing in the front row.

Worthington goes straight into contention for this Saturday’s game against Halifax Panthers, where he could make his second debut for the Raiders at the Northern Competitions Stadium.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back out on the field for the club,” he told the club website.

“I told Paul Crarey that if he needed to bolster the squad at any point this season and I could help out, then I would.

“The club were brilliant with me last year, and if I can help in any way possible for the rest of the season then I’m all for it.”

Barrow Raiders director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “It is fantastic to be able to welcome Greg back into the mix ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

“Greg is a consummate professional who promised to help us out if we ever needed it. He boasts plenty of experience at this level and will give the group a real lift as we head into the second half of the season.”
