There are only 20 days to go until the General Election and the debates and campaigns are raging on across the country.
So as part of our election coverage – we asked Cumbria Crack readers to let us know how they’re planning to vote.
We ran a poll on our Cumbria Crack Facebook group from June 7 to June 13.
The vast majority of readers who took part – around 44 per cent – indicated that they are planning to vote for Labour, while 34 per cent of you opted for Reform UK.
Around 10 per cent opted for Conservatives and five per cent for Liberal Democrats, while only two per cent said they’d be voting for the Green Party.
Around three per cent of readers also said they were not planning to vote and two per cent said they would be voting for another party.
Many of you took to the comments to say you were interested in or confused by the popularity of Reform UK – while others said they felt big change was on the horizon.
Several people additionally showed support for Labour in our comments and some expressed frustration over the two-party political system.
Some of you also took the time to urge each other to vote.
Why should I vote in the 2024 General Election?
Amid all the debate and drama of the General Election build up, you wouldn’t be the first to think ‘why should I even bother voting?’
The number of people voting in elections has declined rapidly since 1997 and factors ranging from age to health and political disengagement have been blamed for the drop.
Many people choose not to vote because they don’t like any of the parties up for election or they have little to no confidence that they have a say in what the Government does.
Here’s what voting means and why you should make sure your voice is heard.
