Workington Town have signed the 27-year-old outside back Tommy Brierley on a two-week loan deal from League One rivals Rochdale Hornets.
Brierley signed for Rochdale ahead of the current campaign after a couple of games on loan at the end of last season.
At his previous club, Oldham, the former Leeds Rhinos Academy player suffered a serious injury which at one point threatened to end his career.
He suffered a fractured leg and a ruptured ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in the first game of the 2022 season and underwent a major operation to completely rebuild his shattered knee.
When he signed for Rochdale at the start of the current campaign Hornets Head Coach, Gary Thornton, said: “I’ve known Tommy for a few years seeing him progress through Leeds Rhinos academy into championship / league 1 football. He has undoubted ability and is equally at home on the wing or at centre.
“He’s a strong carrier out of backfield and knows the way to the tryline and I’m hoping he will show his quality with some consistent performances. Tommy is a very popular member of the group and is well respected by his team mates.”
After starting his career with Leeds, he has also played for Hunslet, York and Coventry, and joins Town at a time when they are still having to contend with injury issues.
He will be immediately in contention for the League One game at Colwyn Bay on Sunday against North Wales Crusaders.
