Emergency services were called out in the early hours after kayakers got into trouble in the Lake District.
Whitehaven and Furness Coastguard rescue teams and a helicopter were called to Windermere after reports of three people in the water and an overturned kayak on the water yesterday, Monday, June 24.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “We were relieved to learn that the casualties were soon safely in the hands of the Windermere Lake Wardens.
“With everyone accounted for and safe, the Whitehaven team was stood down en route, allowing nearby services to conclude the situation.
“As the fine weather and summer holidays approach, we want to remind everyone about the importance of being properly prepared when engaging in water-based activities, whether on our lakes or along the coast.
“Always wear a personal flotation device and ensure you have a means of contacting emergency services in case of any issues.”
