
A man has been banned from shops and being drunk in public in West Cumbria to protect people in his neighbourhood and local businesses.
Mark Clark, of no fixed address, was handed a criminal behaviour order at North and West Cumbria’s Magistrates Court.
The 53-year-old must not:
- Enter any retail premises or property that are members of the Whitehaven Shop Watch scheme. He is allowed to enter Morrisons pharmacy, Flatt Walks, Whitehaven for the purpose of collecting prescription medication.
- Enter any retail premises or property displaying Whitehaven Shop Watch posters at point of entry.
- Not be in possession of any unsealed vessel containing alcohol in any public place, except from inside a licenced premises.
- Not be drunk in a public place in the county of Cumberland.
- Not be together in a public place with two or more people, behaving in a manner likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress
Cumbria police’s Copeland Neighbourhood Policing Team secured the order today, Monday, June 24.
PC Andrea Hobbs said: “This order was a great outcome and will prevent Clark from further criminality and help protect business owners and local residents.
“I would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately. The punishment for breaking the terms of an order can be up to five years in prison.”
Anyone who sees Clark breaching the terms of his order should contact the police.
