A trial date has been set in the case of a Carlisle woman who stands accused of attempting to murder a man and a child earlier this month.
Jacqueline Mounsey, 53, made her first appearance at Carlisle Crown Court this afternoon following an incident at Whernside, off Queensway, in the west of the city, on Monday, June 10.
A man and a primary school-aged girl were said to have suffered stab wounds to the neck.
Mounsey, of Whernside, Carlisle, faces two charges. One alleges that she attempted to murder a man. A second charge alleges that she attempted to murder a child.
During a nine-minute hearing at the crown court in front of Judge Nicholas Barker, Mounsey spoke to confirm her name and date of birth. She appeared in court remotely, over a video link.
No pleas were entered this afternoon to either of the charges she faces, at the request of her lawyer, Mark Shepherd.
A trial date was identified. This is due to start on December 9 and had a present time estimate of 10 days.
Mounsey is next due to appear at the crown court on August 9. In the meantime she remains remanded in custody.
A Cumbria police spokesman confirmed this afternoon that the child — who was at one stage in a stable condition in hospital — had since been discharged.
It has previously also been confirmed that a man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the aftermath of the same incident remains on bail.
