A West Cumbrian man has been banned from getting into an unattended vehicle owned by somebody else.
Glenn Scott, 50, of no fixed address, has been issued with a two-year criminal behaviour order by North and West Magistrates’ Court.
It means he cannot get in any unattended vehicle owned by another person.
It was secured by Copeland police’s neighbourhood policing team, and follows Scott pleading guilty to theft from a vehicle in November 2023 in Workington to the value of £165.
A police spokesman said: “This order will prevent Scott from further criminality involving the theft of items from vehicles and protect local residents.
“I would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately. The punishment for breaking the terms of an order can be up to five years in prison.”
Anyone who witnesses Scott breaching the terms of the order should contact the police.
