Egremont is facing up to two weeks of mobile signal disruption.
Thousands of people using the O2 network are experiencing intermittent mobile signal issues following a telecom mast fault in the area, which was first reported on Friday 28 June.
Other mobile phone networks using the same mast are also affected, including Tesco Mobile, Sky and Vodafone.
Engineers are working on the fault at the Egremont mast – but while progress is being made, the firm said people will have to wait until Friday 12 July for an update on the disruption.
People using the O2 network are unable to make calls, send text messages or use mobile data.
An O2 spokesman said: “We are aware that some customers in the Egremont area may be experiencing intermittent issues with their service, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“Our infrastructure partner, Vodafone, is aware of the issue and working as quickly as possible to resolve it.”
A spokesman from Vodafone added: “We’re sorry to our customers who are affected by issues with their services. We are aware of the issue and are working our hardest to get this solved as soon as possible.
“We encourage our customers to sign up to Network Checker to receive service updates regarding network issues.
“We are aware that there is a hardware fault, and until investigated properly we are not able to confirm if it is a power issue.
“Our team is working hard with appropriate third parties to safely investigate this further. We are hoping to see progress as soon as possible.”
