
Wigton Rugby Union club has launched a crowdfunding campaign aimed at installing new floodlights on their training pitch.
The club has successfully raised £72,000 through grant funding from UKSPF, SportEngland, Joyce Wilkinson Foundation, CCL and Thomas Grahams.
With planning approval already granted, the Wigton club is now seeking an additional £12,000 to complete this transformative project.
The club is committed to enhancing their facilities and providing an exceptional sporting experience for its members.
The new floodlights will significantly improve training sessions and enable the club to extend their playing hours, benefiting both senior and junior teams alike.
The three-week crowdfunding campaign will begin at noon today Saturday, July 13, offering an opportunity for individuals, businesses, and rugby enthusiasts to contribute to the project’s success. In return for their support, businesses will have the chance to redeem sponsorship rewards through the crowd funder.
Ryan Dobson is managing the project and ensuring the successful implementation of the floodlight installation. With his passion for the club, Ryan is confident in the positive impact this project will have on the entire Wigton RUFC community.
James Fitt, co-ordinates sponsorship and marketing among a raft of other roles at the club. James will work closely with businesses interested in supporting the club and encourages anyone interested in the reward opportunities to get in touch.
He will assist in showcasing the benefits of sponsoring Wigton RUFC and help businesses choose the most suitable sponsorship packages according to their objectives.
Alystair Miller, club chairman and the Wigton Wildcats Ladies Rugby team coach, expressed his thanks for the generous grant funding received this far and encouraged the community to rally behind the crowdfunding campaign.
Alystair believes that the new floodlights will not only enhance the playing experience but also contribute to the overall growth and development of the club.
David Warwick, the senior men’s coach, said he was excited about the potential of the new floodlights to enable winter evening training sessions and create a more competitive environment for the players as well as having a positive impact on the team’s performance.
