A drawing competition has been launched by Sellafield Ltd to support its ongoing safe driving campaign.

Under-12s are invited to draw a picture of Sam the Snail – and they could see their design made into permanent road signs on the Sellafield site.

Winning artists will also win tickets for themselves and their families for GoApe.

The UK’s largest nuclear site is a busy industrial complex with lots of people and vehicles and has a low speed limit of 20mph, or even 10mph in some areas.

The new snail signs will sit alongside existing speed limit signs and detectors to remind people of the speed limits and the importance of getting home safely each day.

Entries are welcomed in any medium and format, from paint, pens or pencils to digital art.

Submissions can be emailed to safetycomp@sellafieldsites.com and should include the first name and age of the child, a brief description of how they came up with the idea, and the contact details of a parent or guardian.

The competition is open until August 9 and winning entrants will be notified by the end of August.
