Cleator Moor Celtic were 3-1 winners over Cockermouth when the West Cumbria Veterans League Cup competition got underway.
The top five finishers in the league will contest the cup while the bottom five will battle it out for the trophy.
Mark Callan, Michael Fidler and a Gareth Evans penalty made up the Celtic treble.
Celtic are still waiting to hear when the County Veterans Cup final is being played, and also the venue for it, as they get ready to take-on long-time holders Harraby Catholic Club.
