Two people are in hospital with serious injuries following a crash on the A590 near Newby Bridge.
Police were called out to the collision at around 5.55pm last night. It involved a Seat Ibiza and a Mercedes.
Emergency services attended the scene and the driver of the Mercedes was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Seat was also taken to hospital via air ambulance with serious injuries. Their condition is described as critical, but stable.
The road was closed from Newby Bridge Westbound for a number of hours, but was reopened around midnight.
