Kendal Town had a tough introduction to the Northern League when they crashed 4-0 at Redcar Athletic.
It had been just 1-0 at half-time but goals in the 50th, 63rd and 75th minutes earned one of the title favourites a convincing victory to start with.
Kendal manager Jimmy Marshall said: “It was a disappointing start for us and we have to take it on the chin and look to put things right on Tuesday night.
“There was a lot I didn’t like about the performance and I know our squad is better than that. We were sloppy in a lot lof things we did, especially our passing and we conceded three really bad goals.
“People tell me they are among the favourites to win the League but I don’t really think they got their goals through their football. We gave them the goals.
“But we are at home on Tuesday night and it’s an early chance to put things right. We want to get as many points as we can on the road, and make it hard for teams coming to our place.”
Marshall won’t have Steve Yawson in the firing line against Guisborough on Tuesday after he limped off with a hamstring injury.
