Barrow are still in the relegation zone, despite looking as though they would pick up two valuable points at Doncaster.
Six minutes from the end Paul Crarey’s men led 30-26, but two tries, a conversion and a field goal saw the Dons snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
The vital points came from a try by Joe Lovodua, who got in behind the Barrow defence to g aet to a kick through from Watson Boas and conversion from Connor Robinson.
That edged the home side in front and three minutes later Bureta Faraimo seized on a loose ball and went in for an unconverted try. Craig Hall took out extra insurance with a last minute field goal.
It was a disappointing end to a game in which under-strength Barrow had battled really hard to get something out of it – coming from 26-18 behind to lead 30-26 with twelve minutes left. They had never been in front in the contest until that stage.
Brad Hey had given Doncaster the early lead with the try, converted by Robinson and they doubled it five minutes later when Boas slipped through an inviting gap for the second try, again improved by Robinson.
Barrow came back into the contest and were level by the half-hour mark with tries by Josh Wood and Ramon Silva, both converted by Ryan Shaw.
However the Dons led 16-12 at half-time when they scored a third try. Robinson’s kick was tapped back to Reece Lyne by Luke Briscoe who completed the job of touching down.
Lovodua went in to extend the Doncaster lead three minutes into the second half but Barrow were quick to respond and Silva did really well to offload before he was forced into touch and Luke Cresswell scored.
Back came Doncaster with a second try for Lyne and at 26-18 they seemed to be getting on top. But Barrow forced their way back into the lead for the first time with tries from Andrew Bulman and Cresswell, both converted by Shaw.
Unfortunately Barrow just couldn’t see it through over the last six minutes and their fight to stay in the Championship continues.
