Latest news about £1m Frizington roadworks

An update about a £1 million scheme to upgrade a West Cumbrian road has been issued.

Contractors are working on the A5086 in Frizington.

Cumberland Council, which is managing the scheme, said it was committed to minimising disruption as much as possible by working closely with local businesses and residents to maintain access and support business deliveries during the work.

Next phases of work

All dates and plans are weather-dependent.

The current phase – Phase 2 – is expected to be completed by tomorrow, Saturday September 7.

Phase 3

Phase 3 will take place from Monday, September 9, between the mini roundabout and Church Street.

Road users should anticipate some disruptions during this phase.

From Monday September 16, work will continue with two-way traffic lights for three weeks. There will be no road closures during this period, but traffic management will be in effect, so people are asked to allow extra time for journeys.

Phase 4

The road will be closed from Church Street to the top from Monday October 7 to Sunday October 13.

Phase 5

The road will be closed from the tip to Kenmare Tyres from Monday October 14 to Saturday October 19.

School buses

During road closures, school buses will have access through closed areas between 7.45am and 8.30am and 3pm to 3.45pm.
