A man has admitted being involved in cannabis production after 1,000 plants were found by police at a property in Whitehaven.
Tactical support, neighbourhood policing and CID officers were all present as a warrant was executed in the town on the morning of Tuesday, August 6 this year.
A cannabis farm comprising around 1,000 plants was found inside the property.
At Carlisle Crown Court today, 32-year-old Drilon Hasani appeared remotely over a video link in front of Judge Michael Fanning.
Hasani, of Camomile Close, Walsall, admitted one offence of cannabis production.
Also appearing in court was a 39-year-old man who, like Hasani, faces the cannabis production charge. He was not legally represented and did not enter a plea to the allegation.
Although a lawyer for Hasani relayed the defendant’s wish to be sentenced today, Judge Fanning said that was not possible and adjourned the case for the second man to seek legal advice.
That man is due to enter his plea at the crown court on 23rd September. He remains remanded in custody along with Hasani, who will receive his punishment on a future date.
Police said after the incident on 6th August that the warrant was executed as part of Operation Lookout. This is Cumbria Constabulary’s response to tackling commercial cannabis grows.
