The A7 north of Longtown will close overnight for roadworks from next week.
The road will be resurfaced by Connect Roads, on behalf of Cumberland Council.
Work is due to start on Sunday, October 6 and, weather permitting, end on Saturday, October 12.
The work will take place overnight, from 7pm to 6pm, although drivers are warned weather conditions may lead to last-minute changes.
During this period, the A7 will be closed between the junction with the A6071 and the B7201 junction for Canonbie.
A diversion route will be in place, and all road users are advised to follow the signage and plan their journeys accordingly.
Personnel will be stationed at closure points to safely escort people through the work when possible. However, short delays may occur depending on ongoing site activities. Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout the work.
