LISTEN: Heaviest defeat of season for Cleator Moor Celtic

Cumbria Crack · Gareth Agnew

Cleator Moor Celtic suffered their heaviest defeat of the season in the West Lancashire League when they went down 6-0 at Hurst Green.

After a fairly solid start in started to go wrong midway through the first-half when a poor clearance resulted in Jake Craven giving the home side the lead.

Although they seemed to have weathered the storm Hurst Green added a second goal a minute before half-time and again it was Craven who supplied the finish.

The home side were keen to make it a physical battle and Celtic struggled in this aspect of the game, particularly against two strong and effective strikers.

A minute into the second-half Jack Parker scored a third goal for the hosts and there was little chance of the Cumbrians coming back from that.

Jake Craven completed his hat-trick on 52 minutes and in the last ten minutes there were further goals for Kian Ellis and Scott Craven.

Celtic hope to bounce back on Saturday when they have a home game against Rossendale, who beat Whitehaven on Saturday.

No doubt Celtic manager Gareth Agnew will be having a word with his pal Carl Short who is in charge of Whitehaven about the opposition.

You can hear what Gareth thought of the game at Hurst Green in our audio above.
