There’s no let up in the number of new recruits to the Whitehaven cause as head coach Anthony Murray prepares for the 2025 League One season.
The latest arrival at the Ortus Rec is another player who spent last season with neighbours Workington Town – hooker Connor Saunders.
Saunders, 27, is one of those players who has represented all three Cumbrian clubs as he has also played for Barrow and turned out in one game on loan for Haven from the Raiders in the 2023 Championship season.
He will now make the permanent move to Whitehaven to link up with Murray again after the coach chose him 16 times in Workington colours last season.
Murray said: “I am looking forward to working with Connor again and really pleased he wants to further his career with us at Haven.
“Connor brings some Championship experience having spent a lengthy spell at Barrow and League One experience with Workington last year.
“He is a fit lad who works hard and will bring a different dynamic when he comes onto the field.”
Since Under 10s level, Saunders played the majority of his rugby with Ulverston.
In September 2021 he made a solitary appearance for West Wales Raiders, against Barrow, before being invited to train with the squad by head coach Paul Crarey.
