A Cumbrian school officially opened its £160,000 all-weather sports facility this week.
The new surface, at Caldew School in Dalston, was opened at 2pm yesterday, Wednesday November 6, with Carlisle United first team players Terrel Thomas and Ben Williams attending.
The project was specified by the school and following a quote process, the winning contractor was Sportex.
It installed the new sports surface as well as offering a sustainable recycling of the old artificial turf, which was removed and the materials separated where they will be repurposed for different uses.

Sportex relayed TigerTurf Championship 50mm turf marking out a full size football pitch and three five-a-side pitches.
A hockey pitch will be marked out in the near future.

Headteacher Vicki Jackson said: “We are extremely happy to invest in the new all-weather facility which has been fully self-financed by the school and will receive many years of use by our students both in school time and extra-curricular activities.

“We are proud to offer this facility to our community users and look forward to celebrating all our sporting successes.”
