A man was stabbed in the chest during an attack in Kendal at the weekend.

It happened at around 11.45pm on Sunday in Highgate.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening chest injury.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article.

Daniel West, 22, of Captain French Lane, Kendal, was arrested in the early hours of Monday.

He was initially released on bail the same day before being re-arrested yesterday evening, Tuesday November 5.

Today, Wednesday November 6, he has been charged with GBH with intent and possession of a bladed article.

He appeared before Barrow Magistrates’ Court today where he was remanded to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on December 6.

Cumbria police said it was being treated as an isolated incident, with no ongoing risk to the public.

However, detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information who has yet to come forward to do so.

Anyone with information can contact police online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit quoting incident number 255 of 3 November 2024 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
