After seven transformative years at the helm of Creighton Rugby Club, Richard Liddle has announced he is stepping down as head coach.
In a club statement, Creighton said: “Richard’s leadership has been nothing short of exceptional, leaving an indelible mark on the club, its players, and the wider community.
“Under Richard’s guidance, Creighton Rugby Club has grown from strength to strength, both on and off the field.
“His dedication, passion, and countless hours spent nurturing talent have not only elevated the club’s performance but also fostered a tight-knit, supportive environment that embodies the true spirit of rugby.
“Richard was instrumental in building the club’s thriving youth section, which he developed from a handful of his son’s friends into a programme of over 120 children representing every age group from U7s to U14s.
“The U14s team, in particular, has achieved incredible wins recently and is undoubtedly a team to watch as they come through the ranks. From thrilling victories to overcoming challenges, Richard has been the cornerstone of the club’s success and camaraderie.
“Richard’s departure as head coach leaves behind big shoes to fill, and he will undoubtedly be missed. However, this is not a goodbye, as he will continue to play an integral role in the club’s future as director of youth rugby.
“His focus on developing the next generation of players is already yielding incredible results, promising an even brighter future for Creighton Rugby Club.”
Richard said he was stepping down to spend more time with his family. He expressed gratitude for the club’s current position, with a strong team of volunteers and coaches ready to carry the torch forward.
He said: “It feels like the right time to pass on the reins. The club is in great hands, and I’m excited to watch from the sidelines for a change.”
The club has announced a new head coach in Alex Langley and says it is confident that Richard’s legacy will serve as a solid foundation for continued growth and success.
