A service to celebrate the life of the man killed in a fire at Kirkby Lonsdale earlier this month will be held.

The memorial for Ben Taylor, 45, who lived on Market Street, will be held on Monday December 30 at 12.30pm at Beetham Hall Crematorium, near Milnthorpe.

The full service will also be live streamed to St Mary’s Church, Kirkby Lonsdale from 12.30pm.

Only family flowers are requested but an invitation for donations to go into a fund to commemorate Mr Taylor’s memory can be left at the funeral service or sent to Edward Waller, JJ Martin Funeral Directors, 4 Harling Bank, Kirkby Lonsdale, Carnforth, Lancs, LA6 2DJ or call 01524 272431.

Mr Taylor’s family have thanked the Kirkby Lonsdale community for all their support and kindness.

Emergency services were called to the town at 5.45am on Sunday December 8 to a blaze at apartments opposite the Red Dragon pub on Main Street.

75 firefighters and 10 crews were called to the incident, plus the aerial ladders from Carlisle and Barrow.

The Kirkby Lonsdale Disaster Relief Fund has been set up and has so far raised over £81,000 for the community still affected by the fire’s aftermath.

An inquest has opened into Mr Taylor’s death.
