
Carlisle takeaways have been targeted by thieves in a spate of incidents in recent days.
Cumbria police have not revealed how many takeaways have been affected, but said they were in the Warwick Road and Denton Street areas.
Officers in the city are reminding business owners to be vigilant and follow security advice.
It issued the following tips to help deter thieves:
- Identify any areas that may be vulnerable to forced entry and make them more secure
- Make sure doors and windows are locked when not in use
- Make sure you have a monitored alarm which is fully operational
- Make sure your CCTV is operational and provides good quality images
- Make sure there is sufficient lighting around the premises
- Try and ensure wheelie bins are stored away as these can be climbed on to gain access
- Do not keep cash on the premises, especially overnight
- Make sure keys are not left on the premises and only designated staff have access
