A West Cumbrian tree planting event has brought together businesses, charities and schools.
People Plant Trees – a tree planting charity – organised the event that took place on Worm Gill River and saw 50 trees planted in 15 wooden cages.
The event was given financial and volunteer support from NSG Environmental Ltd, sister company NIS Ltd, West Lakeland CIC and the Woodland Trust.
Volunteers came from newcleo, Goodlives Project, Gosforth Primary School and the Environment Agency.

On the day, volunteers helped plant the trees in the wooden cages previously constructed along the river by the National Trust.
The trees will provide several environmental benefits, including keeping water cool to help improve invertebrate populations, supporting fish species, create habitats for birds and other wildlife and sequester carbon and mitigate climate change and flooding while also providing shade for livestock.
Representatives from West Lakeland CIC and the Environment Agency were on hand to provide insight on the biodiversity and community benefits of the tree planting.

James Rudd, sustainability manager at NSG Environmental Ltd, said: “I would like to thank Lochlan from People Plant Trees and all the passionate volunteers for their support with the event.
“As well as bringing different members of the community together for an enjoyable and educational day, the work carried out will provide significant environmental benefits to the West Cumbria area, which is a key objective of our sustainability plan.”
