A Lake District guest house has been sold for an undisclosed sum.
Latimer House, in Bowness-on-Windermere, went on the market last year for £925,000 as its owners prepared to retire.
It has now been sold to Thomas Mao and the sale was announced by specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.
The hotel has seven en suite bedrooms and has recently been refurbished.
Former owner Christine Kirch said: “We are delighted to have completed the sale of Latimer House and we hand it over to the new owners confident that they will build on the success of the business.
“We would like to thank Graham Wilkinson at Christie & Co for handling the sale for us, who attended to the matter in a prompt, efficient and professional manner.
“We would also like to thank Jonathan Holmes, from Thomson Hayton Winkley Solicitors, for all his professional help involved in the sale of the business. We are now looking forward to new opportunities.”
Thomas said: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to acquire Latimer House, a remarkable establishment built by the previous owners.
My goal is to uphold and enhance the high standards of service and quality accommodation that guests have come to expect in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere.
“I am looking forward to welcoming visitors from around the globe as they come to experience the beauty of the Lake District firsthand.
“I would also like to extend my gratitude to Vince Lung at Bell Park Kerridge Solicitors and Graham Wilkinson at Christie & Co for their invaluable support in facilitating a smooth purchase in time for the 2025 season.”
Graham Wilkinson, Christie & Co hotel agent who managed the sale and lives in Windermere said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Christine as she looks to retire, and to welcome Thomas to the hospitality sector in the Lake District.
“It is great to see this very successful business pass to an enthusiastic new owner and I have been delighted to assist in that process.”
