Two people were arrested after they fled from a car when they were spotted by police.
Cumbria police said in the early hours today, Thursday April 3, police officers came across a black Volkswagen Golf which made a sudden turn near the Cross Keys pub in Penrith, before the two occupants got out and fled towards a nearby estate.
Officers gave chase and caught up to both.
One was arrested for failing to provide a specimen. She was charged with this offence and will appear at court later this month.
The other failed a roadside drug test, the results indicating cocaine, and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
He was released under investigation to allow time for blood test results.
