Plenty of goals in Cumberland County League

Cockermouth goalkeeper Mike Graham battles with Keswick’s Ste Hilton (Ben Challis)

Matches are coming thick and fast in  the Cumberland County League with more action and plenty of goals this weekend.

Whitehaven Miners Social romped to a 12-1 win against Wigton Harriers in the Premier Division with both Alex Parr and Nathan Walkingshaw grabbing themselves a hat trick each.

Brett Smith bagged himself a brace with the other Miners goals coming from Jamie Thursby, Connor Woodend, Alfie Schofield and Hadleigh Davies. Harriers were playing their last league match of the season and their goal came from Ryan Hanley.

In the Ken Glover Memorial Cup, Brad Fearns, Freddie Hilton and Luke Mason all found the back of the net for Keswick and gave them a 3-1 win against Cockermouth, whose goal came from Louis Pickering.

Unisun Athletic played their last group match of this competition and rounded that off with a 2-2 draw against Maryport Athletic. Ellis Dickinson and James Murdoch both scored or Unisun with Maryport goals coming courtesy of Ethan Weir and Jake Wight.

In the League Cup 1, Aspatria got the result of the day when they ran out 2-1 winners against Workington Juniors with goals from Andrew Trestianu and Sean Law. Macauley Sharp netted for Workington.

Louie Kirkbride hit a double to give Dearham United a 2-0 win against Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves.

Jameslee Reynolds was once again scoring goals for fun as his hat trick helped Unisun Athletic Youth Development to a 4-0 victory in the League Cup 2 when they played Windscale Reserves on Saturday. Mitchell Wood also helped himself to a goal for Unisun Youth Development side.
