Two new councillors have been elected on to a West Cumbrian parish council.
An election was held yesterday, Thursday May 22, for two seats on Seascale Parish Council after villagers in Seascale called for one to be held following the resignation of two councillors.
It resulted in the authority telling taxpayers it would cost them money in a social media post.
Seascale Parish Council declined to comment about its post.
The result of the election was as follows:
- Jane Louise Coltman (Independent): 318 votes
- Zoe O’Hanlon (Independent): 334 votes
- Robert Craig Talbot: 105 votes
There were three rejected ballot papers all for being unmarked or void for uncertainty.
Jane Louise Coltman and Zoe O’Hanlon have been elected as councillors for Seascale Parish Council.
Turnout was 29.04%. The size of the electorate was 1,405 and the number of ballot papers issued was 408.
