A Lake District walker was rescued after suffering a heart attack while out yesterday afternoon.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called at around 1pm on Saturday, May 31, to Grisedale Pike, near Keswick.
The walker was experiencing severe chest pains while descending the fell.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team said: “A vehicle left the base immediately, due to low numbers additional support was requested from Keswick and RAF Leeming Mountain Rescue Team.
“Once on scene it became clear that the individual was experiencing a heart attack, pain relief was administered but rapid extraction was the priority.
“Both the Great North Air Ambulance and Coastguard Rescue helicopter attempted to attend but weather conditions prevented either landing.
“The casualty was stretchered off the mountain to rendezvous with a waiting North West Ambulance Service ambulance near Revelin Moss.”
